San Roque
San Roque, admired for its sweeping curved streets and lush landscaping, is packed with children and high quality schools to serve them. Flat and tree lined, the streets of San Roque are filled with bike and skateboard riders, parents strolling babies, and dog owners out for the evening stroll. With grocery and other stores and restaurants within blocks of their homes, residents of San Roque feel they are living in one of Santa Barbara’s most convenient neighborhoods.
San Roque contains a harmonious blend of architectural styles, including Spanish Colonial, English Tudor, French Normandy, California Redwood, Italianate and American Colonial. Although San Roque’s earliest residences were built in the 1920’s, San Roque enjoyed its greatest housing boom between 1955 and 1965. Because there are few sidewalks in San Roque, homeowners landscape the gardens all the way to the street, creating a luxurious feel to the neighborhood.
